Ontario Criminal Injuries Compensation Board

Description (Service) Provide financial compensation for those who qualify under the Compensation for Victims of Crime Act; that is victims and family members of deceased victims of violent crimes committed in the Province of Ontario. 
The crime of violence must be an offense under the Canadian Criminal Code. Any offense involving a motor vehicle is excluded, unless the vehicle was used as a weapon of assault. The board does not compensate for loss or damage to personal property.

Eligibility Innocent victim of crime of violence occurring within Ontario; Children under 18yrs must have an adult apply on their behalf
Application Application form to complete manually or online available on the website. Must apply within two years of crime, whether or not assailant has been apprehended.
Languages English ; French ; Interpretive Services - can be arranged at hearings
Fees None ; Expenses that are incurred in preparation for the Hearing may be considered by the Board at the time of the Hearing.
